It is Tuesday and you know what that means...another delicious recipe from Baking with Julia. The contributing baker for this recipe was Marion Cunningham...which make me think of happy days. :)This recipe happens to be one of the easiest bread recipes I have ever seen. There are 4 ingredients and you barely have to knead the bread.
This is Irish Soda Bread. Basically you throw together the 4 ingredients, shape the dough into a ball, cut an x in the top and toss it in the oven. Dorie says that you need to eat it that day though because it will turn "hard as a blarney stone". There was no worry about that happening in my house of bread lovers though.
Carrabbas Italian Butter to dip it in. My hubs and my kids raved about this bread so I know I will definitely be making it again in the near future. One of the ingredients included buttermilk which I never have on hand. When I do it usually goes bad. However, this time I used the rest to make the Buttermilk Spice Muffins from the book. A slight spoiler for when we actually get to that recipe....they taste just like Mimi's Cafe Buttermilk Spice muffins! Those were devoured by my family as well. :)
