July 20, 2010 - Lots of Ways Banana Cake

First of all thank you to Kimberly from Only Creative Opportunities for choosing this weeks Tuesdays With Dorie Recipe. You can find the recipe on her site or you can buy the book: Baking from My Home to Yours by Dorie Greenspan.
When Dorie has a recipe that says "Lots of Ways" she means it. You could add all kinds of different items, you could leave out ingredients from the main recipe and you could substitute ingredients.

I cut the recipe in half, left out rum and coconut and added mini chocolate chips. I used sour cream instead of coconut milk then melted a Hershey bar to drizzle on top. It's tasty. :) My monkey plate didn't make a great prop for my pictures but the bananas from my kids little kitchen worked nicely!

This is a recipe I know my husband will love as he is a bread eating machine. My kiddos were my testers and of course wanted more. Make sure to check out Kimberly's blog or you can check out the Leave your Link post to see how other bakers changed up this recipe this week.
Next week: Chewy Chunky Blondies

The drizzle looks yummy! This was my farewell post with TWD after almost two years of baking along. Hope you'll stop by and say goodbye!
