My very first experience with Dulce De Leche was in 1999. Kathy, who I worked with at APU, had gone to Costa Rica and brought back a jar of this delectable treat. At our department meeting she pulled out spoons and insisted we all try it. My, already minor, love for caramel intensified at that point. That experience with a spoonful of Dulce De Leche was brought back when I tasted these. They are soft, brown sugary and filled with a layer of store bought (from Walmart) dulce de leche. Thanks to Jodie from Beansy Loves Cake for choosing this yummy recipe. Check out her site for the recipe. :)Tuesday, March 23, 2010

Walmart.... hm I must have missed that! These look great - and I agree - the chewiness was fantastic. Glad you enjoyed them!
I heart DDL.
I make my own, and in these cookies it is fantastic.
Love your picture and the story about the dulce. Yum!
Now that's my kind of coworker! Bringing DDL back from vacation and insisting I try it at work. Don't have to twist my arm! Glad you enjoyed the cookies.

Glad you liked them! Thanks for baking with me!
I loved the chewiness also and the flavor was not bad at all.
They look so yummy! I'm glad they brought back a fun memory!
Yum! I could eat it straight out of the jar with a spoon, also. SO good.
Mmmm your cookies look beautifully delicious!
Sometimes our Walmart has ddl and sometimes it doesn't. This time, it did not and I had to go to the expensive grocery store across the street. Fun recipe though. My husband says this ddl stuff isn't the same as the amazing stuff he had in Chile on a mission for our church.
I think it needs a little salt. ;)
Mmm, those look wonderfully tasty. Wish I had some more.
I found some at Walmart, but it was in a plastic bottle, not a can. I bought it and will try to make these tomorrow. Yours look fabulous!
Your cookies look delicious! I'm now in love with DDL!
they were a hit with us too!!! nice job :) i have the same round cooling rack too!
Liked these cookies!! Yum!
Your cookies look just about perfect. Very nice!
Your cookies look great!
I have Dorie's cookbook from the library and I don't want to give it back. SERIOUSLY. I love dulce de leche, those sound absurdly amazing. I made her peanut butter cookies last weekend and they are just the best I've ever tasted!
Yep, just give me a spoon and a can/jar of dulce. Good stuff.
And good looking cookies.
