My Little Sister is so crafty!

My little sister lives in Alaska. She is pretty darn crafty and her kiddos are taking after her. She and my sweet niece and nephew entered a bunch of stuff in the Alaska State Fair this week and got first in a couple of things and placed in several others.
You have to see her Partridge Family Bus cake she made. So cool!
Check out her blog The Many Moods of Homeschool Mommy.

Michigan Sneak Peek

I <3 This is at my grandparents house in Michigan. There is a 60's filter on it from Picnik.

I am having one of those weeks that feels like I am running through mud and can't get out. Yesterday I left my phone at home. It made me feel even more disconnected than I normally do. Because I left my phone at home and didn't get home until 10:30 I checked facebook on my phone before going to sleep. Because I checked facebook I forgot to set my alarm. Because I forgot to set my alarm I got up 40 minutes late. Because I got up 40 minutes late we got out the door late. Because we ran out of Capri Suns yesterday for the kids lunches and neither of us had any cash for milk at school we had to run to McD's for chocolate milks. Because we went the opposite way than we normally do we found ourselves in the middle of traffic because of an accident. Because of the accident I ran through the parking lot and made it to McD's. Because they took FOREVER in the drive thru I decided to run in with the kids. Because we pulled out of the drive thru the guy behind us did as well and ran in before us. Because of the accident we had to make a detour. Because of the detour around the fire trucks we said some prayers for the people in the accident that they were all unharmed. Because we prayed for others I felt myself calm down a bit. Because I was calmer, letting the kids get out of the car and walk in together was not as difficult as I thought it was going to be. Because we were in the late car rider circle I was late for work. Because I was late for work one of my co-workers was not able to get in yet since she doesn't have a key. Because of all that craziness I was able to have a good laugh with a couple of co-workers about facebook and technical ineptitude. Because I have been praying and because I am choosing to, I am going to have a good attitude and pray that it is contagious.

Tuesday Stuff

Randomness going on in my brain at the moment:

-I wonder how my friend at work is doing. His newborn baby has heart trouble. He is faithful though and knows no matter what God will be glorified.

-How did my kiddos do at school today?

-Guess I will heat up my frozen meal for dinner.

-I hope my class goes well tonight.

-I need to get pictures developed for my scrap retreat.

-I need supplies for my retreat.

-Hm, must bake.....I am behind 2 Tuesdays with Dorie recipes..and I want to make them...maybe for this weekends retreat...

-I hope Bobby has fun at open house tonight. I am very sad I am missing my sons very first open house.

-Wondering about family. How each and every one of them is doing.

-How can I be an encouragement to the girl that jut walked through the door.

That is all for the moment.

It's just been one of those, one of those days

I have this song by Joy Williams stuck in my head today. I woke up with a horrible headache even though I actually slept really well. My kiddos got ready on time and we even walked out the door on time. Every person ahead of me on the road was driving 10 miles an hour under the speed limit and I couldn't go around due the the person sitting almost in my blind spot.

I feel like my attitude is OK, I am not being mean to anyone, I have taken time to pray. But like the song says "Don't ask me how I am if you don't want to know." It is definitely Monday.

I do have a super perky co-worker that just makes me smile. She is very intentional about saying hello, asking how the weekend was and sticking around to hear the answer. I hope that my attitude shows that I care about people and want to hear how they are doing as well.

{TWD} Brownie Buttons

Thanks go to Jayma from Two Scientists Experimenting in the Kitchen for today's Tuesday with Dorie recipe selection. I made these at my grandparents house in Michigan for my family reunion. They didn't have a mini muffin pan so I doubled the recipe. I should have cubed it as it only made 18 brownies. I cut them in quarters though to serve at the reunion. The orange taste was quite prevalent as I used a lot of orange zest in them. Have you ever had one of those chocolate oranges at Christmas time? That is what these reminded me of. Yum!!! :) I am not usually a big fan of white chocolate but it was a perfect complement to these cute brownies. This is on the make again list for sure!

{TWD} Banana Bundt Cake

It's Tuesday, and you know what that means! Another scrumptious treat due to my baking club Tuesdays with Dorie. This weeks recipe was banana bundt cake chosen by Mary, The Food Librarian. She has gorgeous photos and lots of fun treats on her site. Make sure to check out her blog for the recipe and her scrumptious photos!

I wasn't really sure this was going to turn out well when the entire top layer stuck to the pan. I layered on the butter too. Not sure why that happened. Oh well, more crumbs for my tasters.

We went to a BBQ at the bands singers house and thought this would be fun to take with us. We also took a 2 liter of Verners Ginger Ale and were delighted and surprised to see our hosts has chosen the same thing. What are the odds? :)

When we got there I made the lemony icing. No measuring, just by sight. I made it for the French Yogurt cake so knew it was going to be easy.
I know mine is not as pretty as some of the ones out there but I am sure it was just as delicious. I made a comment out my recipe and our bass players wife, Bethany, though I said Succescipe. It was a successcipe! :)
Awhile later we were talking about the bands new album cover and what should be on it. Our singer Mark thought the cake was so good that a photo of it should be the cover. My husband piped in with "Yes, because nothing says Rock-N-Roll like a half eaten bundt cake!" :) We all got a good laugh out of it. I left an extra piece for Mark (the singer) we said our goodbyes and headed for home. Thanks Dorie and Mary for helping me be a dessert rock star. :)
